The lack of suitable bras for bigger breasts was the inspiration
for our unique measuring system and for the revolutionary design
of the bras themselves.
The bras have been designed, and our customers have confirmed
they work, to stop the following common problems
•
“Four breasts”,
where the breast tissue spills over the top of the cup, giving
unflattering lumps and bumps. Bra-Doctor’s bras have large
cups (in every size), which contain the whole breast.
• Bumps to the side and
under the arms. Normal bras push the
breasts back onto the body. With larger breasts this often means
out to the side - making you look wider. Our bras hold the breasts
forward, giving a streamlined look.
• Bumps at the back.
Normal bras fasten around a soft part of the back. They push the
back tissue out, above and below the strap – creating lumps
and bumps. Our backs fasten further down, eliminating these bumps.
• Bras that ride up.
Normal bras were designed on the solid body of a mannequin. So
they move around until they find something to latch onto –
normally the shoulder blades! Our bras were designed for the moving
tissue of a real body. So they fasten low down and do not move
away from this position.
• The “Matronly”
look. Normal bras compress the breasts
and so “spread them all over the upper body”, as one
of our clients commented. This unflattering look is less Marilyn
Monroe and more Matron. Our bras elevate the breasts away from
the body, giving the look of a breast lift.
• Straps digging in.
Ridges, red welts and painful grooves can all result from bras
that put the weight of your breasts onto your shoulders. Our bras
distribute most of the support across the back, so little weight
is taken by the shoulders. That’s why we can use soft, padded
shoulder straps.
• Posture/back/neck/shoulder
problems. Bras that allow the weight
of the breasts to pull forward can lead to extreme discomfort
(see our Health page). Our bras were
designed to distribute the weight backwards.
• Underwires that move
up onto the breasts, poke in or fold the breasts over.
Underwires do not support the breast from below. They were never
designed to – they were designed to push the breasts back
to the front as traditional bras push them out to the sides. That
is why they can ride up onto the breast. If they do stay under
the breasts, they can force the breast tissue to fold over them.
As breast tissue is pliant, this can lead the breast to change
shape – to “droop”. Bra-Doctor’s bras
do not use underwires.
• No support.
Bouncing breasts can make any of us feel self-conscious –
when exercising, running upstairs, even walking past a building
site. Our bras hold the breast securely, so you can run, jump,
be free.
• Not being able to buy
a bra. With our fitting system, we
